Interior design in Los Angeles that feels like you live there
An award-winning, ASID-accredited studio designing homes and independent businesses across Los Angeles. Three clear ways to work together, priced up front.
Three ways to work together
You have good instincts of your own and one room that has never quite worked. We resolve the layout, settle the palette and the key pieces, and you execute it confidently yourself. Fixed fee per room, 3–4 weeks.
Creative Direction
You’re renovating or building and real decisions are coming at you. The design gets fully worked out — layouts, materials, finishes, lighting — and I coordinate with your contractor at the milestones that matter, so what gets built is what you agreed to.
Design Development
You want it handled. Concept, detailed design, procurement, contractor coordination and oversight through construction and installation — without needing you day to day. You walk into a room that’s genuinely finished.
Full-Service Design
Never a museum. Never a showroom.
Cinquième Gauche is named after my first apartment in Paris, a fifth-floor walk-up where I worked out what “home” actually means. I still work that way: I pay attention to how you really live, then build with what you already have. Warm, a little romantic, never precious. Rooms you can put your feet up in.
I’m Laetitia Wajnapel. Before design I spent almost twenty years as an editor and journalist in Paris and London, asking people how they lived. Now I’m in Los Angeles, designing houses and independent businesses here: cafés, wine bars, shops, small studios. ASID accredited, winner of the 2025 Interior Design and Innovation Award, and featured in Architectural Digest, People, Homes & Gardens and Livingetc.

Tell me what you’re working with and what you want it to become. No pressure, no assumptions about scope — that’s what the first conversation is for. I read every enquiry myself and reply within two business days.
