There are three ways to work together. They differ mostly in how much of the project I carry: from pointing you in the right direction, to running the whole thing from first sketch to the day you move in.
Most people aren’t sure which one they need at first, and that’s what the initial conversation is for.
Creative Direction (Advisory)
The problem this solves: you have a room that isn’t working and good instincts of your own, but you keep second-guessing the big decisions, and you’d rather not hand the whole thing over.
This is direction without the full machinery. We resolve the layout, settle the palette and the key pieces, and get you to the point where you can execute confidently on your own. It suits a single room or a contained scope, a living room that never quite gelled, or a home you're about to buy, where you want a designer's eye on it before you commit — I'll walk it with you and tell you honestly whether it's right.

One presentation and one round of revisions

Procurement, vendor coordination, project management, on-site styling, or custom and trade-only furnishings.

Design Development
The problem this solves: you’re renovating or building, there are real decisions with real consequences coming at you, and you want a strong design framework locked in, plus someone keeping an eye on the site so what gets built is what you actually agreed to.
This is where the design gets fully worked out across the spaces in scope: layouts refined, materials and finishes chosen, lighting and fixtures specified. I coordinate with your contractor at the key milestones and review the work as it goes up, so the thing on site matches the thing on paper. It’s the middle path, more than direction, short of handing over the whole project.

Full-Service Design
The problem this solves: you want it handled. You don’t want to project-manage, chase vendors, or make a hundred small decisions, you want to hand over a space and get back one that feels unmistakably yours.
This carries the project end to end: concept, detailed design, procurement, coordination with contractors and consultants, and oversight through construction and installation, without needing day-to-day involvement from you. For a business, it means the build-out gets handled while you run the actual business.

Each tier stands on its own, priced up front. If the project grows, we name the next phase rather than let the budget drift — no meter running in the background.
Furnishings & Styling
When this applies: the architecture is already right or we’ve set the direction together and you want the rooms to actually feel finished. This is the part I love most.
Furniture planning, sourcing, procurement, delivery coordination, and final styling, everything to bring the pieces into a whole without touching the architecture.
Add it to Creative Direction or Design Development, or book it on its own for a space that just needs the right things in it, chosen well. It’s already built into Full-Service Design.
How We Work Together
Every project starts with a conversation — about the space, what you want from it, and how much of it you'd like me to carry. From there the path depends on which of the three tiers fits, but the shape stays the same: we get the direction right first, then take it as far as your tier calls for.

We start with a call to talk through the space, what you're hoping it becomes, and how hands-on you'd like me to be. By the end we usually know which tier makes sense and if we don't, that's fine, that's what the next step is for.

I'll recommend the tier that actually fits the project (not the biggest one) and lay out the scope, timeline, and cost in plain terms, so you know exactly what you're saying yes to. Once that's agreed, we begin.

Before anything gets designed, I spend real time with the space: site visits, a look at any existing plans, and an honest conversation about how you live in it — or, for a business, how it needs to work for the people who walk in. Then I set the direction: how the layout should function, how the rooms relate, and the materials that carry the whole thing. For Creative Direction, this is where it lands — you leave with everything you need to run with it yourself. For Design Development and Full-Service, it's the foundation the rest is built on.

For projects that go past advisory work, this is where the direction becomes buildable: detailed drawings, material and finish specifications, and coordination with your contractor or consultants at the points that matter. How far this goes depends on your tier.

For Full-Service projects, I stay with it through construction and installation — solving what comes up on site, keeping the details true to the plan, and handling the furnishing and styling so the space is genuinely finished, not just built. You walk into a room that's ready, down to where the light falls.
Who I Work Best With
I do my best work for people who care how a space feels, not just how it photographs. Homeowners who want a house that finally feels like theirs, warm and storied and a little romantic, somewhere you actually want to linger, rather than a showroom to be admired from the doorway. And owner-operators of the local café, the wine bar, the shop, the small wellness studio, who understand that atmosphere is what makes people stay and come back.
The through-line is taste and trust. You have a point of view of your own. You'd rather hire an eye than a pair of hands, and you want someone who'll tell you honestly what a space could be. If you're mainly after the cheapest quote or the biggest name, I'm probably not your person, and that's genuinely fine.
